The role involves collaborating with systems personnel to design automated accounting systems, reviewing the work of Accounting Technicians, and conducting comprehensive internal examinations to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with systems personnel on the design of automated systems to facilitate processing of accounting data and ensure results meet accounting requirements.
• Reviews the work of Accounting Technician to assure accuracy and conformity to policy and procedures, instructing when necessary and assigning projects.
• Plans, coordinates, and performs comprehensive reviews, special studies and internal examinations of finance and accounting functions.
• Verifies reports with source documents, reconciles accounts, and investigates transactions for compliance with laws and regulations.
• Applies accounting theories, principles, practices and automated systems to problems and prepares analyses of financial data.
• Reviews reports and statements, analyzes data such as Statement of Financial Conditions and Analysis of Costs Incurred; provides solutions and alternatives.
• Makes day-to-day decisions on unusual and complex accounting transactions and consults on management problems.
• Analyzes and evaluates current accounting methods; recommends changes and assists in designing accounting forms for special activities.
