Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Controls & Robotics Engineer to design and build automated manufacturing lines for modular nuclear reactors, architect control systems, program PLCs and HMIs, and commission equipment on the factory floor. This is a senior technical role responsible for defining factory automation strategy and delivering production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in electrical/commercial engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in industrial controls engineering, automation, or robotics.
• Expert PLC programming on major platforms and HMI/SCADA development.
• Experience commissioning equipment through FAT/SAT and ramping production.
• Knowledge of safety standards and cross-functional delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design PLC/HMI control systems for automated manufacturing lines.
• Develop and program PLC logic and SCADA systems.
• Specify sensors, actuators, drives, and networking hardware.
• Integrate robotics into cells with proper safety protocols.
• commission and validate equipment from FAT to production handoff.
• Create control narratives, I/O lists, and network drawings.
• Implement industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, PROFINET, etc.).
• Develop safety systems per NFPA 79, ISO 13849, IEC 62443.
• Collaborate with MES/IT on data acquisition and traceability.
• Mentor junior engineers; drive standards and templates.
• Maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are met.
