Job summary

IPG Photonics, headquartered in Marlborough, MA, seeks a Lead Facilities Technician to drive technical leadership and reliability across the site. You will own PM programs, coordinate capital projects, and mentor technicians while ensuring safety, compliance, and smooth operations.

The role requires 6+ years in facilities maintenance within manufacturing, cross-trade knowledge, and the ability to work on-call.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or licensure strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of facilities/industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing environments.
• Advanced cross-trade knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and building infrastructure systems.
• Ability to read basic control diagrams and sequences of operation; willingness to cross-train on site platforms.
• Experience scoping/coordinating outside contractors and vendors for specialized work.
• Strong independent judgment and on-call escalation capability.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex facility issues and drive preventive maintenance improvements.
• Lead facility renovations, equipment moves, and capital projects from planning through completion.
• Coach and mentor technicians; manage vendor and contractor relationships for larger projects.
• Lead safety/compliance inspections and ensure OSHA and policy adherence; maintain records and logs.
