Job summary

Scottsdale Unified School District is seeking a daily work crew leader to supervise and train maintenance staff at district facilities in Scottsdale, AZ. This role coordinates tasks, monitors safety, and ensures timely completion of routine maintenance and custodial activities.

You will supervise lower level staff, perform hands-on maintenance, and coordinate with vendors while ensuring district standards and logs are up to date. Strong organizational and safety focus is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and two years of relevant maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead lower level staff, assign work, monitor performance, and participate in evaluations.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as trash removal, cleaning, painting, and basic maintenance.
• Respond to internal requests and emergencies to ensure safety of students and staff.
• Monitor contracted cleaning vendors and ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain logs, forms, and communications; manage facilities, vehicles and equipment.
• Coordinate with external vendors and manage purchase orders and receipts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

• Serves as a crew leader to lower level staff, which may include: prioritizing and assigning work; monitoring the performance of lower level staff; training staff on work methods and procedures; and, participating in performance evaluations.
• Performs manual labor activities, which includes: emptying trash cans; gathering materials and equipment; placing materials and/or equipment in proper locations; sweeping; setting up furniture and/or equipment; digging; cleaning; moving furnishings; painting; and/or, performing other related tasks.
• Assists and responds to internal customer requests for assistance, inquiries, and/or other related requests; and responds to emergency situations as required to ensure the safety of students and staff.
• Monitors the activities of contracted cleaning companies to ensure compliance with established standards and guidelines.
• Maintains a variety of logs, forms, and written communications of activities within assigned area of responsibility.
• Maintains facilities, vehicles, and/or equipment utilized in daily activities; troubleshoots, maintains and performs routine repairs to equipment; monitors inventory of supplies.
• Coordinates activities with external vendors who are responsible for performing maintenance and/or custodial activities on behalf of the District.
• Processes shipping and receiving receipts, purchase orders, and bills of ladings.
• Monitors supplies and inventory to ensure appropriate levels for the performance of facilities and maintenance support activities; recommends the purchase of supplies and inventory.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and two years of relevant maintenance experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Physical Requirements
