Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer in Arlington, VA, to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The role may involve supervising maintenance staff and coordinating with outside contractors.

The candidate will perform preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, and ensure adherence to safety standards while maintaining building operations and submitting monthly reports to the management team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; apprentice or trade school preferred.
  • 5+ years of related trade experience in operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.
  • Appropriate trade licenses or permits as required (Journeyman/Master Electrician, etc.).
  • EPA 608 Universal refrigerant certification or equivalent knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily operations and maintenance of MEP systems.
  • Supervise maintenance staff when applicable.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including filters, lamps, bearings, belts, and inspections.
  • Coordinate with contractors and technicians; manage inventory.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure compliance with codes and safety rules.
