Job description

Job Summary

This position manages all day‑to‑day facilities operations, including the generation and completion of department work order requests, corrective, preventative, and emergency repair and maintenance of leased facilities, and troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to code compliance, inspections, and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, appraise, and perform preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, furniture, carpentry, construction, and other facilities equipment and systems.
  • Create, receive, analyze, prioritize, and manage work orders through to completion with minimal supervision, using excellent customer‑service and communication skills.
  • Create and manage projects, maintain documentation, and work within established expense limits.
  • Ensure code compliance and building standards, including inspections, indoor air quality, code deficiencies, and equipment longevity.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and appropriately.
  • Play a key role in business continuity planning, mitigation, and response.
  • Represent the facilities department in dealings with employees, customers, contractors, vendors, and property management.
  • Recommend and implement procedural and process improvements for continual improvement.
  • Arrange, coordinate, monitor, and inspect services from in‑house staff and vendors/contractors, providing training and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain inventories and supplies to ensure readiness for likely events.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience maintaining building systems in a commercial environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced math, reasoning, and computer skills; fluent in English.
  • Excellent customer‑service skills.
  • Advanced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems troubleshooting and repair expertise.
  • Strong safety knowledge and application.
  • Lift operator certification.
  • Universal refrigerant license.
  • NEC 70E overview course completion.
  • Initiative, reliability, and department work ownership.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BOMA SMT or equivalent designation.
  • Advanced understanding of CAFM tools (building management systems, energy management, etc.).
  • Advanced business continuity planning experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Work Conditions
  • Office environment with occasional travel to facilities.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; use of equipment for heavier items.
  • Exposure to changing weather conditions and work on ladders, rooftops, and above‑ground levels.
  • Operation of heavy‑duty equipment, hand and power tools, and company vehicles.
  • Extensive walking and computer system use.
Salary

Annual base salary ranges from $51,500 to $68,500, with eligibility for an annual bonus up to 6% of base salary based on company performance and individual results.
