Job summary

Patrick Industries, via TACO Metals, seeks an Extrusion Engineer & Production Manager to lead plastics manufacturing operations, optimize extrusion processes, and drive quality and throughput.

The role blends hands-on engineering with production leadership across shifts, tooling development, process standards, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to meet safety and performance goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in plastic extrusion, polymer processing or related environments.
• Strong knowledge of extrusion processes, tooling, dies, and downstream equipment.
• Experience with product development, launches and manufacturing improvements.
• Leadership experience or potential is preferred.
• Exposure to production scheduling and manufacturing operations management is helpful.
• Familiarity with ERP, documentation systems, and production reporting tools preferred.
• Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and operational excellence exposure preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot extrusion processes to improve efficiency and quality.
• Design and improve tooling, dies, and downstream equipment.
• Establish process parameters and manufacturing documentation.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality and equipment reliability.
• Support daily production across shifts and monitor performance metrics.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production, and Supply Chain.
• Provide technical training and mentorship to operators; support workforce development.
• Partner with Maintenance on preventive programs and equipment upgrades.
• Drive Lean initiatives and continuous improvement for productivity and cost control.
• Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across operations.
