Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an External Communications Specialist to shape and share our energy infrastructure stories across media, thought leadership, and industry engagement. This role can be fully remote or based in our San Diego office, with expectations discussed in interviews.

The position emphasizes strategic storytelling, content development, and executive visibility, driving reputation and business objectives through compelling communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, content marketing, media relations, or a related discipline.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Strong interviewing, research, and information-gathering capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build relationships across an organization.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Draft and coordinate external communications materials, including press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, talking points, and briefing documents.
• Support media outreach efforts, interview preparation, and relationship-building with industry media and other external stakeholders.
• Monitor industry developments and identify opportunities to increase visibility for SOLV Energy, its projects, and its leaders.
• Develop a variety of content, including thought leadership articles, project spotlights, and LinkedIn content.
• Translate technical information into clear, compelling content for external audiences.
• Contribute ideas that support long-term storytelling, reputation-building, and business objectives.
• Monitor industry, competitor, and company news and prepare regular reports highlighting key trends, opportunities, and potential reputational considerations.
• Stay informed on energy, infrastructure, construction, engineering, and adjacent industry developments to identify topics and trends relevant to SOLV Energy's business and communications strategy.
• Support executive visibility and thought leadership initiatives through research, messaging development, speaking materials, and event communications.
