Job description

About us

Socrates is an AI-native platform for a new generation of business software. We bring models, data, agents, and applications together so companies can replace disconnected systems with software built around how they work. The underlying infrastructure is built in, giving businesses one foundation to manage their records, run their workflows, and put AI to work.

Our mission is to give businesses greater control over their technology and make it easier for people to create and use software with AI. We’ve raised a $23 million seed round to help build that future.

The Role

Run the CEO’s operating surface so the CEO can spend their time on the work only they can do. Things get handled before they become questions: meetings get scheduled without three rounds of email, the Work Week comes together without anyone asking where the itinerary is, and last week’s follow-up is already closed.

You are the CEO’s primary support and a shared resource to the COO, Finance, and Engineering. When time is constrained, the CEO’s calendar and priorities win. No apology needed.

“Own” means end to end, no oversight needed. “Support” means you assist and the named stakeholder has final say.

What You Own
CEO calendar and meetings
  • Own: daily and weekly calendar, external scheduling, recurring cadences (leadership syncs, board prep, 1:1s), and follow-up on action items

  • Support: agendas, pre-reads, and notes for key meetings

Travel and Work Week
  • Own: the CEO’s travel, plus monthly Work Week logistics (venue, room block, group travel, itinerary). This is a recurring production with a hard date every month.

  • Support: Work Week budget tracking with Finance

Communications
  • Support: inbox triage, drafting correspondence and announcements in the CEO’s voice, and monitoring Slack channels tied to active workstreams

Admin operations
  • Own: expense reports and filing of key operational documents

  • Support: invoice tracking with Finance, and keeping Linear current for the CEO’s initiatives

Office and team experience
  • Own: supplies, vendors, mail and packages, facilities and landlord contact, visitors, team events, and offsite and retreat venues

  • Support: event budgets and vendor contracts with Finance

Recruiting and onboarding
  • Support: interview scheduling, NDA and offer document tracking, and new hire logistics

How We Work
  • Discretion by default. You will see compensation, candidate, performance, and board material across Socrates, Atlas, and Nova. It all stops with you.

  • Say it early. If something slipped, tell us before we find out.

  • Own the follow-through. Booking the flight is step one. Confirming it, rebooking when the meeting moves, and expensing it is the task.

  • Close the gap. With nine people, there is no one to hand the unowned thing to.

  • No brilliant jerks. You are the first person visitors, candidates, and vendors meet.

What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years supporting executives, with meaningful C-level time

  • Startup experience, ideally under 50 people. Working without an established process matters more than navigating one.

  • Real event and travel ownership, not just booking

  • Experience as a shared resource across executives without becoming a bottleneck or a martyr

  • Deep Google Workspace (Calendar especially), Slack as a primary surface, and DocuSign

  • Rippling or a comparable expense and HR platform

  • Fluent in Linear within two weeks. You don’t need it on day one, but every workstream here runs through it.

  • Precise writing, composed under competing demands, and anticipatory enough that most problems never reach the CEO

Why join us

Join Socrates to help shape how businesses build, use, and own software and AI. You’ll tackle hard problems in making AI reliable, affordable, and secure enough to run the systems businesses depend on. Your decisions will help shape our technology, our products, and everything built on the platform. We value people who take responsibility, move with urgency, and make the work around them better. This is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the platform and the company behind it.

Benefits & Perks

We’ve got you covered with competitive compensation, equity, medical, dental, and vision benefits, plus flexible time off coordinated with your team. Alongside federal holidays, you’ll enjoy company-wide summer and winter breaks—dedicated time for everyone to unplug, recharge, and make the most of life outside work.
