Job summary

PCL Construction Services, Inc. is seeking aSenior Estimator to lead detailed cost estimating for large-scale projects, manage bid submissions, and drive strategic pursuit efforts.

The role requires extensive experience with various delivery models, strong leadership, and the ability to build productive owner and team relationships. You will develop schedules, perform take-offs, price labor and materials, and coordinate with the chief estimator to ensure competitive and accurate bids across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or trade experience (or equivalent).
• Gold Seal certification in estimating required (CDN).
• 12 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating with 12 months onsite experience preferred.
• Successfully led pursuits valued up to $250 million in various delivery models (hard bid, lump sum, CM, cost reimbursable, target price, design-build).
• Experience with self-perform estimate and productivity understanding.
• Knowledge of bid preparation: quantity take-off, trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
• Ability to lead teams and develop productive relationships with owners and peers.

Responsibilities

• Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications for large projects to determine requirements (bonding, insurance, etc.).
• Establishes critical path schedule with milestones to meet completion dates for large projects.
• Performs full quantity take-off of labor, equipment, and materials; reviews pricing and bid validity with purchasing.
• Leads pricing of general expenses and project-specific requirements for medium to large projects.
• Completes final bid submission review and coordinates tender submission with the chief estimator.
• Conducts risk and opportunity analysis for inclusion in risk register.
• Liaises with external consultants and project management to estimate budget requirements and coordinate tender development.
• Assists chief estimator in collecting historical information and benchmarks.
• Monitors client-specific success criteria, understands owners’ business and revenue needs, and proposes solutions.
• Advises management on strategic pursuit initiatives and opportunities.

Education
