Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking a Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil in Riverside, CA, to lead the development of accurate bids for complex infrastructure projects. You will oversee detailed takeoffs, cost development, and subcontractor negotiations to drive winning proposals across utilities, earthwork, paving, and concrete work.

The role requires 10+ years in heavy civil estimating, strong knowledge of the SoCal market, and collaboration with operations and leadership to shape bid

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
• Strong background estimating for a self-performing heavy civil contractor.
• Demonstrated estimating experience across utilities, earthwork, grading, asphalt, and concrete.
• Strong knowledge of the Southern California heavy civil construction market.
• Experience bidding public works, municipal, transportation, railroad, or utility-owner projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Review bid documents to determine complete project scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for self-performed and subcontracted scopes.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect costs.
• Build crew-based production estimates and validate production rates and unit costs.
• Lead estimating efforts for self-performed work including utilities and earthwork.
• Solicit and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Develop bid strategies with operations and executive leadership.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to validate approach and schedules.
• Prepare bid proposals, qualifications, and supporting documentation.
