Job summary

Calqulate in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead bids on highway and bridge projects, owning estimates from takeoff through bid day. You will build production-based costs, solicit subcontractor quotes, and develop bid strategies with leadership for NCDOT work in the Triangle area.

The role requires 7+ years in heavy civil estimating with DOT bid experience, strong takeoff skills, and the ability to mentor junior estimators.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of heavy civil estimating with lead estimator experience on DOT bids.
• Experience on highway, bridge, earthwork, paving and drainage estimates.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimates on heavy civil highway and bridge bids from takeoff through bid day.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications.
• Build crew, equipment and production based cost estimates.
• Solicit, level and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Develop bid strategy, risk review and pricing with leadership.
• Attend prebid meetings and site visits.
• Track NCDOT lettings and build the bid schedule.
• Mentor junior estimators and keep the estimating database current.
• Hand awarded work to the project team with a clean budget.
• Review bid results and carry the lessons into the next estimate.

A large, well established heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Estimator to lead bids on highway and bridge work in the Raleigh area. This is a strong opportunity for a Senior or Lead Estimator with DOT heavy civil bid experience who wants a stable employer with a deep backlog and a real voice on bid day. You'll own estimates from takeoff through bid day on highway, bridge and infrastructure projects, much of it NCDOT work. Triangle locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.
