Job summary

The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western in Atlanta, GA seeks a Senior Estimator to develop accurate proposals and estimates for transportation projects. You will collaborate with a team of estimators and work independently on smaller projects while supporting the bid process and post-bid activities.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, takingoffs, pricing, subcontractor solicitations, and ensuring constructability.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10 years of experience in estimation or related roles.
• Extensive knowledge of construction means, methods, costs and engineering principles.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Engages with Lead Estimator on bids.
• Understanding of costs and market conditions.
• Ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and requirements to develop scope, labor, and equipment costs.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and pricing for self-perform or unit-price estimates.
• Review bid documents and material requirements for constructability.
• Solicit subcontractors and discuss scope with them for detailed knowledge.
• Prepare bid packages and compare subcontractor/supplier bids.
• Analyze subcontractor bonding, workload and performance.
• Prepare estimates per multiple delivery systems and review with PM team.
• Assist with post-bid buyouts and subcontractor presentations.
