Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC in construction or civil engineering with a professional qualification.
  • Experience as an Estimator with a major civil engineering contractor or as a Senior Estimator with Tier 2 contractors.
  • Good understanding of railway sector work types, possession working and site constraints.
  • Strong commercial awareness with knowledge of main forms of contract and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with RIB Candy estimating system or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process from receipt of client documents through to handover to delivery teams.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates, present findings at bid team meetings and final reviews.
  • Prepare structured items and quantities using methods of measurement, pricing work under various contract forms.
  • Work with procurement to develop supply chain strategies, appraise quotations and select partners.
  • Identify risks, supervise junior staff, and support their professional development.

Job description

We're looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team working on railway, aviation, nuclear and defence projects.


Location

Remote working available, with travel to the office as necessary


Hours

40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Estimator (Rail), you'll be working within the estimating team, supporting them in securing new work through competitive tenders and negotiated contracts. You'll be responsible for maximising our commercial position whilst securing opportunities that align with our Business Plan objectives. Working collaboratively with colleagues across preconstruction teams, you'll play a vital role in preparing pricing for tenders and other business opportunities.


Your Day To Day Will Include


  • Leading the estimating process from receipt of client documents through to handover to delivery teams

  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates, presenting findings at bid team meetings and final reviews

  • Preparing structured items and quantities using methods of measurement, pricing work under various contract forms

  • Working with the procurement team to develop supply chain strategies, appraising quotations and selecting appropriate partners

What are we looking for?

This role of Senior Estimator (Rail) is great for you if:



  • You have at least degree/HNC qualification in construction or civil engineering, with professional qualification

  • You bring experience as an Estimator with a major civil engineering contractor or as a Senior Estimator with Tier 2 contractors

  • You have a good understanding of railway sector work types, possession working and typical site constraints

  • You possess strong commercial awareness with knowledge of main Forms of Contract and excellent communication skills

  • You have ability in using Excel and either RIB Candy estimating system or willingness to learn
