Murphy Company, a leading mechanical contractor, is hiring an Estimator for our Thornton, CO office. You will estimate plumbing, HVAC, and process piping systems for projects across Colorado and Wyoming, leading bids up to $20M.

Qualifications

• 10+ years estimating in Plumbing, HVAC and Process Piping for institutional, healthcare, and industrial projects.
• Experience leading estimates up to $20M and preparing bid documents.
• Process Piping plan layouts, schematics, and specifications knowledge.
• Proficient in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor/equipment quotes.
• Strong ability to read drawings and bid documents; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead all estimates up to $20M and compile accurate bid documents.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and equipment vendors.
• Understand field conditions and develop labor/material cost summaries.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents for accuracy.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and prepare schedules for bids.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, layouts, and related specs.

As a Senior Estimator, you will be a vital member of Murphy’s preconstruction team, the get work gurus. You will help build our company’s portfolio by utilizing your attention to detail and time management skills to produce timely, accurate, and thorough estimates for projects throughout Colorado and Wyoming. We are looking for you to be a part of our get work initiative by estimating plumbing, sheet metal, mechanical, hydronic, and process piping systems.

We Are Looking For Someone Like You

• 10 plus years Estimator experience in Plumbing, HVAC and Process Piping of Institutional, Laboratory, Pharmaceutical, Brewery, Healthcare, and Industrial related projects.
• Responsible for leading all estimates up to $20M, compiling accurate bid documents – including take-off and summary of all materials, fixtures, and equipment, along with evaluation of labor, material, and equipment costs. Experience managing multiple, simultaneous projects.
• The individual should possess Process Piping expertise relating to plan layouts, schematics, P & IDs, and specifications. Plumbing, HVAC and Sheet metal knowledge a plus.
• This individual will solicit and evaluate, with assistance from the Purchasing Department, multiple subcontractor and equipment quotes, understand construction field conditions, and prepare schedules encompassing this information.
• Skilled in reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Ability to accurately compile a summary of materials, equipment, and labor.
• Understand construction field conditions, means and methods, and project schedules.
• Quickpen / Autobid software experience preferred.
• Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and Bluebeam experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• You will be responsible for soliciting, evaluating, and preparing bid proposals in the most attractive manner to general contractors and owners.
