Job summary

Graywolf is seeking a Senior Estimator in Arizona to produce accurate estimates for small and large complex industrial projects. The role collaborates with fabrication, purchasing, and pre-construction teams to ensure bids are thorough and cost-effective.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial construction estimating, with Structural Steel background, and experience supervising other estimators. Strong analytical and communication skills, plus proficiency in estimating software and MS

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction on complex projects.
• Structural Steel experience required unless holding a related bachelor’s degree.
• Supervisory or lead estimator experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret detailed drawings, specs and technical docs.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, specifications, and client documentation to prepare estimates.
• Prepare detailed estimates for new projects and change orders with deadlines.
• Perform take-offs of materials, shop labor, field erection, and equipment costs.
• Collaborate with project team on fabrication and erection to meet specs.
• Identify potential risks and communicate cost implications to management.
• Read bid instructions and prepare comprehensive price estimates including crane costs.
• Discuss alternate estimates to meet client needs when required.
• Coordinate with Sales and Pre-construction to understand scope and timelines.
• Follow GWICC estimating guidelines and enter data in internal system.
• Interact professionally with key team members.

Overview

As a Senior Estimator, you will produce accurate, detail-oriented estimates on small and large complex projects. This will be accomplished through collaborative efforts with various GWICC disciplines such as fabrication, purchasing, filed erection, pre-construction, sub-fabrication and 3rd party vendors. Our Estimators provide the business with estimates that can be accurately interpreted and executed by our pre-construction team.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze blueprints, project specifications, and other documentation presented by the client, to accurately prepare and estimate projects.
• Prepare detail oriented and accurate estimates on new projects and estimate prices for any change orders on existing contracts, meeting assigned deadlines.
• Prepare take off of steel materials, estimate all necessary shop labor and field erection, estimate materials, buyout items and equipment cost etc. to prepare a thorough bid estimate.
• Collaborate with project team members on building to specifications in fabrication and erection.
• Appraise and communicate to management team any potential risks and/or conditions not fully captured in estimate that may impact costs of the project.
• Read and interpret job bid instructions, detailed specifications, prepare a “take off” of materials included in the job, estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, equipment costs (including crane costs) to prepare a through price estimate.
• Be comfortable to discuss alternative recommendations on projects in which management requires alternative estimates to meet client needs.
• Work directly with Sales and Pre-construction Teams to understand size and scope of projects along with timelines and applicable project deadlines.
• Adhere to and follow the GWICC estimating guidelines and procedures.
• Type up all estimates in our in house computer program, enter takeoffs, drawing numbers etc.
• Interact with other key team members in a professional manner

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction with demonstrated success on complex projects. Structural Steel experience is required unless holding a bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field.

• Prior supervisory or lead estimator experience strongly preferred.

• Ability to interpret detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documents.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry estimating software.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

Education:Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
