Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking an Enterprise Risk Management Associate Director to lead and maintain risk programs across the organization, including RCSA, Controls Testing, GRC Platform, and third-party risk management.

You will oversee a small risk team, drive program maturity, and ensure adherence to enterprise standards, policies, and reporting requirements, collaborating with the Senior Director and CRO on strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit, SOX, Financial Institutions or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Previous leadership experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of general banking operations and products.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory obligations and industry standards.
• Experience across one or more of the three lines of defense (banking ops, IT, compliance, risk, audit).
• Advanced knowledge of COSO ERM Framework and Basel principles.
• Proficiency in risk tools and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk programs to identify, measure, monitor, and control risks across the organization.
• Oversee Change, Project, and Product & Services risk management to drive consistency and governance.
• Enhance risk frameworks, reporting processes, and enabling tools, using automation where possible.
• Monitor enterprise risk trends and escalate when risk levels exceed thresholds.
• Support senior leadership with special initiatives and CRO communications.
• Manage and develop a small team (2–4) and drive continuous improvement.
