Job summary

Morgan Stanley Investment Management is seeking a Senior Equity Risk Manager to join its Central Trading and Risk Management team. You will collaborate with portfolio managers to optimize risk and performance for market-neutral equity funds, leveraging quantitative methods and production tools.

You will analyze factor exposures, manage hedges, and develop analytics to support portfolio construction and risk management in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Requires 8–10 years of experience in equity risk management, quant investing, or portfolio management.
• Deep understanding of market-neutral, factor-constrained equity portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, risk models, and hedging techniques.
• Proficiency in Python/SQL for large datasets and production tools.
• Excellent communication with portfolio managers and senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Work with PMs to identify and manage portfolio risks including factor, industry, concentration, liquidity, and correlations.
• Advise on portfolio construction, sizing, hedging, and constraints to improve risk-adjusted returns.
• Analyze portfolio behavior across markets and stress scenarios to distinguish intended exposures from risks.
• Evaluate alpha sources and attribution across factors, sectors, and positions.
• Develop and enhance risk analytics, optimization methodologies, and execution-research tools.
• Monitor market developments and communicate risks and opportunities to senior management.
