Job summary

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is seeking a skilled automotive technician to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment. The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to read manuals, and a commitment to safety and accuracy.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, disassembly/reassembly, routine maintenance, and maintaining records. Some duties may involve welding, body work, and painting, with potential for non-standard hours and travel

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of experience repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment.
Ability to read technical manuals and specifications.
Ability to supervise the work of others.
Willingness to work in subtropical climate and lift up to 75 pounds.
May require a valid Florida Driver License depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair various types of vehicles and equipment.
Make minor or major repairs to vehicles or equipment including disassembling, replacing, and/or overhauling mechanical systems.
Operate various types of vehicles as required to complete proper maintenance.
Instruct and assist lower-level mechanics.
Maintain preventative maintenance program.
Inspect and adjust equipment used in performance of duties.
May perform welding, minor body repairs, and painting.
Complete maintenance reports and records.
Perform other related duties as required.
