Take on a leadership role within a multidisciplinary environmental consulting team, contributing to projects that support sustainable development and responsible infrastructure growth. You will lead environmental planning studies, assessments, permitting activities, and natural resource management programs from initial scoping through delivery. Working closely with public and private sector clients, regulatory authorities, Indigenous communities, and technical specialists, you will help develop practical solutions to complex environmental challenges. The role combines technical expertise, project management, client relationship development, and business growth. You will also contribute to the development of colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance. This opportunity offers a collaborative and innovative environment where professional development, flexibility, and meaningful project outcomes are valued.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the scoping, development, and execution of environmental planning studies and management programs, including research, fieldwork, and technical report preparation.
  • Support environmental impact assessments, compensation and offsetting plans, and environmental permitting assignments at provincial and federal levels.
  • Scope, plan, develop, and implement field programs for natural resource management, municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, provide technical direction, and support staff across different areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to project proposals, including budget development, technical input, and proposal writing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, government review and approval agencies, subcontractors, Indigenous communities, community representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project team activities, provide guidance to team members, and contribute to staff development.
  • Identify market opportunities, develop client relationships, prepare proposals, and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Canada on project delivery, client relationship development, and opportunity research.
  • Maintain and strengthen technical expertise and business acumen through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues by providing technical direction, training recommendations, and career guidance.
  • Contribute to the organization's professional profile through active participation in industry associations and committees.
  • Support project quality, regulatory compliance, and the consistent achievement of project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to workplace health and safety by following established processes and proactively identifying and reporting hazards.
Requirements

The ideal candidate combines substantial environmental consulting experience with strong technical, project management, communication, and relationship-building capabilities.

  • University degree or post-graduate college diploma in an environmental, physical science, engineering-related, or other relevant discipline. An advanced degree is an asset.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, industry, regulatory, academic, or a related setting, with a focus on environmental assessments and permitting for development projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory approval requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing regulatory permit applications and submissions.
  • General working knowledge of environmental and social science disciplines, particularly the identification of potential environmental impacts and appropriate mitigation measures for proposed developments.
  • Expertise in a related technical discipline, such as terrestrial ecology, wildlife biology, aquatic biology, or air quality, is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of Best Management Practices and their application to environmental compliance and effectiveness monitoring programs.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including planning, coordination, and delivery against project objectives and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
  • Strong client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, collaborate across technical groups, and provide direction to colleagues.
  • Demonstrated business development skills, including identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals.
  • Strong professional judgment, problem-solving abilities, business acumen, and commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in English is required; working knowledge of French is considered an asset.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, innovation, and collaborative work practices.
Benefits

  • Employee share purchase plan, with share ownership available to all employees.
  • Comprehensive health benefits.
  • Generous retirement savings plan.
  • Student loan repayment assistance with matching employer contributions.
  • Flexible working hours and remote working options, based on personal and business needs.
