Job summary

Rincon Consultants seeks a Senior Environmental Planner to join the Energy and Utilities Team, supporting renewable energy, battery storage, and electric transmission projects across California and the Western U.S. You will lead routing, siting, and permitting efforts, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and clients to advance clean energy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of relevant environmental planning, permitting, or environmental consulting experience.
• Experience supporting renewable energy, battery storage, electric transmission, or infrastructure projects in the Western U.S.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes (CEQA/NEPA).
• Experience coordinating with jurisdictions, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage discretionary land use entitlement and permitting efforts for energy projects.
• Lead routing, siting, and permitting efforts for energy infrastructure projects.
• Develop permitting and entitlement strategies to support project development and operation.
• Coordinate with planners, biologists, engineers, and other experts to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to QA/QC and client communications.
