Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Environmental Permitting Lead to plan, obtain, and deliver environmental approvals for electric transmission projects. The role spans routing feasibility through construction, with a focus on regulatory compliance and stakeholder coordination.

You will oversee complex permitting matters, manage consultants, and partner with project leaders to mitigate risk while ensuring safety and quality standards. Hybrid work options apply in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, natural resources, geology, biology, engineering, planning, public policy, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience leading strategic environmental permitting and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Proven ability to independently drive project-level permitting strategy and compile complex environmental filings.
• Advanced expertise interpreting complex environmental regulations and permit conditions.

Responsibilities

• Establish overall permitting strategy, project schedules, and risk-management for major electric transmission projects.
• Lead complex environmental permitting matters across multiple jurisdictions and programs.
• Advise executive leadership on routing, schedule, cost, public involvement, and compliance implications.
• Direct agency engagement and lead negotiations with regulators and stakeholders.
• Provide authoritative review of permit applications, analyses, alternative evaluations, and commitments.
• Anticipate regulatory developments and advise proactive strategic responses.
• Coach and develop permitting staff and promote knowledge sharing.
• Support proposal prep, project strategy, client/agency presentations, and business development.
