Confidential is seeking a Senior Leader Environmental to direct the environmental performance of a large-scale marine terminal operation in Los Angeles. You will develop and execute strategic plans to ensure environmental compliance, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Job description

The Senior Leader Environmental is responsible for directing the environmental performance of a large-scale marine terminal operation and developing and executing strategic plans to ensure environmental compliance, sustainability, and operational excellence.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Identify, develop and manage execution of required regulatory plans and procedures, including:
• Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC)
• Identify strategies and execution plans for regulatory requirements associated with clean air compliance and other environmental regulations.
• Liaise with and develop strategies to support sustainability initiatives and stakeholder environmental goals.
• Monitor and develop plans for new and changing regulations and expectations related to environmental compliance and sustainability.
• Manage the Environmental budget to ensure spend is justified and aligned with business requirements.
• Exercise management authority to promote overall operational success, including optimization of work processes and efficient workforce utilization.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to influence environmental performance in operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction activities.
• Monitor and influence procurement decisions and equipment utilization to improve environmental performance.
• Promote positive working relationships with customers, vendors, workforce representatives, regulatory agencies, and industry groups.
• Coordinate with other business units and functional teams to support broader organizational strategies and sustainability objectives.
• Support HSSE leadership in achieving regulatory compliance requirements and environmental initiatives.
• Respond to environmental emergencies as required and supervise environmental response activities.
• Lead projects that further environmental performance or other strategic priorities.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Necessary to perform the requirements of the position:

• Leadership: Minimum 5 years of demonstrated success leading environmental performance programs.
• Education: Minimum four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline. Equivalent environmental experience may be considered.
• Accountability: Ability to develop strategies and plans, respond to significant incidents, assess risk, and implement practical mitigation measures while maintaining HSSE standards.
• Agility: Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and regulatory developments.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across functions and organizational boundaries.
• Functional Excellence: Strong knowledge of environmental compliance requirements and management of environmental programs within a large, complex operational environment.

• Direct reports may include management employees, represented workforce personnel, contractors, consultants, and external service providers.

• External stakeholders including customers, vendors, contractors, consultants, industry associations, regulatory agencies, and other business partners.
