City of Austin Water is seeking a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to review and investigate complex environmental cases and ensure compliance with regulations, under minimal supervision. The role emphasizes investigations, enforcement, and program development.

The position will coordinate field activities, respond to spills, provide technical guidance, and support city-wide environmental initiatives, with opportunities for telework and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field with 6 years of experience.
• Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• Additional year of experience may substitute for one year of education.
• May require Texas Driver License and compliance with safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, direct, and conduct investigations related to environmental issues.
• Issue directives and enforce non-compliance with codes and regulations.
• Develop sampling protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Respond to spills and complaint actions, provide technical information.
• Develop and implement rules, code changes, and training programs.
• Lead city-wide initiatives, task forces, and committees.
