Job summary

Evonik is seeking an Environmental Manager for the Mobile Site to lead regulatory compliance, oversee EHSSQ programs, and ensure adherence to EPA, OSHA, and other standards. This role manages a team of six, drives audits, permits, and reporting activities, and coordinates with regulators and stakeholders to maintain a compliant, licensed operation.

This position requires a degree in chemical engineering or environmental discipline, 10+ years in environmental compliance, and strong leadership

Qualifications

• 10+ years of chemical industry or governmental agency experience in environmental compliance.
• 5 years supervisory experience with talent development.
• Expertise in at least one environmental reporting area; broad regulatory knowledge.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage operational and capital budgets.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with EPA, RCRA, OSHA, PSM, CWC, and Responsible Care standards.
• Lead environmental compliance programs and regulatory communications for the Mobile Site.
• Manage permitting, reporting, and testing activities (air, water, waste, TRI, Tier II, RMP).
• Lead EHSSQ audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives across site operations.
• Develop EHSSQ strategies aligned with corporate and regional requirements to maintain license to operate.
• Provide environmental status updates, liabilities, and compliance recommendations to Plant Management.
• Lead incident investigations, spill response, remediation activities, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
• Develop EHSSQ team capabilities and deliver environmental/compliance training to site personnel.
• Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies, community leaders, and external stakeholders while supporting compliant site operations and expansions.
