LVI Associates in Middlesex County, NJ seeks a Senior Environmental Chemist to deliver defensible GC/MS data across air, soil, water, and oil matrices in fixed and mobile laboratories.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Chemistry with 30+ credits, 10+ years in analytical chemistry, hands-on instrumentation experience, and HCWOPER/ICS certifications; travel for mobile deployments is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry with 30+ credit hours in chemistry.
• 10+ years of analytical chemistry experience.
• 5+ years hands-on instrumentation experience.
• Strong grounding in organic chemistry, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
• Experience with SW-846 methods and LIMS.
• TO air methods and vapor intrusion sampling (Summa canisters, Tedlar bags).
• 40-hour HAZWOPER and ICS certifications.
• Willingness to travel for mobile lab deployments.

Responsibilities

• Run GC/MS analyses using EPA methods (8260, 8270, TO-15, 8082A).
• Prepare samples using extraction techniques (liquid-liquid, Soxhlet/Soxtherm, solid-phase).
• Interpret mass spectral data and produce defensible reports.
• Develop, optimize, and validate GC methods (FID, PID, MS).
• Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure data integrity.

I'm partnering with a well-established environmental and infrastructure services firm looking for a Senior Environmental Chemist to join their team in Middlesex County, NJ. You'll serve as a technical expert delivering high-quality, defensible analytical data across air, soil, water, and oil matrices in both fixed and mobile laboratory settings.

What you'll do:

• Run GC/MS analyses using EPA methods (8260, 8270, TO-15, 8082A) within tight turnaround times
• Prepare samples using extraction techniques like liquid-liquid, Soxhlet/Soxtherm, and solid-phase
• Interpret mass spectral data and produce clear, technically sound reports
• Develop, optimize, and validate methods on GC systems (FID, PID, MS)
• Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation to keep data integrity high

What you'll bring:

• BS in Chemistry (or closely related field) with 30+ credit hours in chemistry
• 10+ years of analytical chemistry experience, including 5+ years hands-on with instrumentation
• Strong grounding in organic chemistry, chromatography, and mass spectrometry
