Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a Vulnerability Scanning Specialist within the Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division to manage and optimize scanning across a large, diverse network. You will troubleshoot scanning issues, implement enhancements, and provide technical guidance to the team, CSIRT, and NSOC.

The role involves enterprise-wide scans with Nessus and Tenable Security Center, supporting multiple platforms and delivering Tier 3 assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5+ years related experience.
• Experience maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting vulnerability scanning/management tools.
• Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve issues with network vulnerability scanning tools.
• Collaborate with network operators/engineers to resolve host discovery challenges.
• Integrate Tenable-based system with external services and data sources.
• Support vulnerability analysts in investigating false positives and risk assessments.
• Provide incident response support for host quarantine solutions and scanning inquiries.
• Develop and maintain end-user and technical staff documentation.
• Research and recommend new vulnerability scanning solutions.
• Design and maintain monitoring for data ingestion and processing workflows.
