Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Solutions Architect to lead end-to-end application architecture for AOUSC PACER systems. You will drive secure, scalable designs, ensure alignment with enterprise standards, and collaborate with DevSecOps and product teams to deliver complex enterprise-class applications.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of Java/J2EE development experience, deep knowledge of Linux, RESTful services, cloud patterns, and agile delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 7+ years in enterprise grade software development using Java/J2EE in a web-based environment.
• Expert level Java developer experience.
• Experience with Linux (Red Hat).
• Some experience with JSF/RichFaces.
• Experience with RESTful web services.
• Experience in Spring Framework.
• Experience in automation of CI/CD pipelines.
• SQL and data modeling experience with ORM tools like Hibernate/JPA.
• Architecting and operating cloud solutions.
• Adapt to different enterprise security requirements.
• Experience with on-premise to cloud migrations or IT transformations.
• Experience with Cloud computing and Hybrid Cloud platforms.
• Experience in DevOps and DevSecOps approaches.
• Extensive experience developing applications in an agile environment.
• Experience with Git or other distributed source control systems
• Working knowledge of Federal IT security guidelines and Section 508/ Accessibility.
• Ability to contribute individually and as a team member.
• Nice to Have: Perl language

Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end application architecture, aligned with business goals and standards.
• Lead architectural reviews, create reference architectures, and establish best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and strategy adoption.
• Design integration patterns for client apps with cloud-based back-end systems.
• Build and optimize micro-services, RESTful APIs, and event-driven components.
• Develop micro-frontend apps using modular UI patterns.
• Implement authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth2.0, JWT).
• Develop complex workflow systems leveraging cloud services and distributed architectures.
• Write clean, maintainable code and lead code reviews.
• Require strong experience with Java, JSF, PrimeFaces, JavaScript, CSS, Perl, and/or Linux shell.
• Experience with DevOps tools (Jira, Confluence, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bash, SVN, JetBrains).
• Integrate apps with cloud storage systems.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps for CI/CD and automated testing.
• Lead cross-functional teams including developers, UI/UX, PMs, QA.
• Provide mentorship and architectural oversight.
• Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards.
• Nice to have: Perl language
