Job summary

CFD Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL seeks a senior network engineer to design, implement, and secure enterprise networks across classified and unclassified environments. You will lead modernization efforts, support routing/switching, and drive automation to improve resilience and compliance.

The role requires DoD/regulatory experience, CMMC expertise, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while coordinating with cybersecurity and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 4+ years of DoD/regulatory network experience; graduate degree with 2+ years preferred; in lieu of degree 8+ years experience.
• 6+ years supporting enterprise network infrastructure in DoD, federal, or similar regulated environment.
• Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Juniper and Cisco devices; experience with lifecycle management.
• Experience applying and maintaining CMMC compliance across network devices.
• Experience leading training, mentoring staff, or SME duties.
• Experience with network automation using scripting, templates, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across classified and unclassified environments.
• Administer and optimize network deployments.
• Support routing and switching operations (OSPF, VLANs, STP, segmentation).
• Perform root cause analysis for complex network incidents affecting mission-critical ops.
• Plan and execute upgrades and lifecycle refresh with minimal impact.
• Develop network diagrams, SOPs, docs, and implementation plans.
• Automate network configuration and deployment tasks via scripting/templates.
• Maintain CMMC-compliant configurations across devices.
• Support Zero Trust Architecture through posture assessment and policy enforcement.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity and external partners on changes and remediation.
