Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking a Database Administrator to design, implement, and manage enterprise databases. You will ensure security, integrity, and high availability while optimizing performance and disaster recovery capabilities.

The role requires extensive experience with SQL Server, backups, and data integration using SSIS and MuleSoft. Strong technical leadership and ability to mentor teammates are essential, with on-call duties and possible after-hours work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in database administration or a related position.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain redundant enterprise-class databases, policies, and procedures.
• Write complex stored procedures, queries, and scripts to maintain the RDBMS environment.
• Administer database security, perform performance tuning, and manage backups and recovery processes.
• Ensure security, integrity, and availability of assigned database systems.
• Develop and maintain processes using SSIS, MuleSoft, and other programming tools for data integration.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization solutions.
• Create SSIS packages and provide customer support for data-related processes.
• Develop reports, data catalogs, and dashboards using SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, and Power BI.
• Coordinate testing and production implementation of database tables and functions, including data dictionary management.
• Lead analysis and documentation of current business processes and systems, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
• Provide 24x7 database support and on-call duties.
• Mentor and transfer knowledge to less experienced team members.
