Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Architect to support the Army Materiel Command (AMC) Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in executing a comprehensive digital modernization and data‑centric transformation strategy. In this critical advisory role, the successful candidate will spearhead the strategic assessment of the enterprise technology environment, formulating actionable recommendations to shift investments from underperforming assets to highly impactful digital capabilities. The Enterprise Architect will be instrumental in defining an overarching framework that dictates how software is engineered, procured, maintained, and governed across the organization.

This position is designed for a forward‑thinking technical leader who excels at bridging the gap between high‑level mission priorities and complex technical execution. The Enterprise Architect will lead initiatives to optimize the technology ecosystem by guiding technical policies for modernization and secure software development. By bringing analytical rigor to the existing application landscape, the candidate will empower senior government leadership with the enterprise visibility and strategic frameworks necessary to make highly informed, defensible technology decisions.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the comprehensive evaluation of the existing technology and software landscape to deliver objective, data‑backed recommendations on whether to retain, retire, consolidate, modernize, or transition current enterprise applications.
  • Establish and enforce robust technical standards and architectures encompassing cloud computing environments, Application Programming Interface (API) integrations, and Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) methodologies.
  • Design and implement structured frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate technical debt, while ensuring clear guidelines are established regarding government software ownership and data rights.
  • Drive the creation of comprehensive application inventories and specialized scoring models aimed at reducing technological bloat and redirecting critical resources to high‑value, mission‑aligned capabilities.
  • Oversee the tracking and reporting of software consumption metrics, including application usage, subscription utilization, and API execution rates, to provide granular financial oversight and maximize return on investment.
  • Define the operational pathways and transition plans required to mature successful software pilots into enduring, fully sustained enterprise programs.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in a technical discipline (e.g., Information Technology (IT), Software or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, etc.).
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive experience functioning as an Enterprise Architect or in a similar senior technical leadership role, with a proven track record of evaluating large‑scale technology ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing software lifecycle management policies, enterprise architecture standards, and IT governance frameworks.
  • Deep technical knowledge of cloud computing architectures, API integration strategies, and secure DevSecOps practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with hands‑on experience developing scoring models and assessment methodologies for portfolio rationalization and technical debt management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical assessments into clear, executive‑ready strategies and documentation for senior leadership.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience providing advisory support to the Department of War (DoW) or specifically within an Army enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with developing and utilizing operational dashboards to track technology consumption, financial burn rates, and contractor performance metrics.
  • Experience navigating federal technology acquisition processes and software data rights negotiations.
  • Advanced degree or relevant industry certifications in Enterprise Architecture (e.g., TOGAF), Cloud Computing, or Information Technology Service Management.
We Take Care of Our People
  • Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary.
  • Traditional benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401k matching.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
  • Paid leave and the ability to cash out leave.
  • Free access to certified financial planners, wellness and support services, and discount programs.
  • Education assistance and professional development opportunities.
  • And much more.
