Job description

Based in Mountain View, CA, Cyngn is a publicly-traded autonomous technology company. We deploy self-driving industrial vehicles - specifically autonomous tuggers - to factories, warehouses, and other facilities throughout North America. To build this emergent technology, we are looking for innovative, motivated, and experienced leaders to join us and move this field forward. If you like to build, tinker, and create with a team of trusted and passionate colleagues, then Cyngn is the place for you. Key reasons to join Cyngn:

We are small and big.

With under 100 employees, Cyngn operates with the energy of a startup. On the other hand, we’re publicly traded. This means our employees not only work in close-knit teams with mentorship from company leaders—they also get access to the liquidity of our publicly-traded equity.

We build today and deploy tomorrow.

Our autonomous vehicles aren’t just test concepts—they’re deployed to real clients right now. That means your work will have a tangible, visible impact.

We aren’t robots. We just develop them.

We’re a welcoming, diverse team of sharp thinkers and kind humans. Collaboration and trust drive our creative environment. At Cyngn, everyone’s perspective matters—and that’s what powers our innovation.

About the role
  • Cyngn is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, debug existing hardware platforms, and collaborate directly with our engineering teams. This role requires a self-directed individual capable of managing their own time, prioritizing incoming requests, and navigating ambiguous technical challenges. The ideal candidate has practical experience with electric material handling equipment or electric vehicles and possesses strong manual fabrication and rework skills.
What you\'ll do
  • NPI & Assembly: Support NPI build activities, including the physical integration and wiring of autonomous vehicle hardware onto material handling platforms.
  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Debug and resolve electrical and mechanical issues on existing test platforms and development vehicles.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with hardware and software engineers to build test fixtures, execute validation procedures, and provide feedback on design manufacturability.
  • Fabrication & Rework: Perform mechanical modifications and electrical rework using manual machine shop tools.
  • Workflow Management: Independently manage, track, and prioritize multiple concurrent requests from the engineering team to ensure project timelines are met.
Qualifications
  • 4 + years of Experience
  • Vehicle Systems Experience: Extensive hands-on experience working with electric vehicles (EVs) or electric material handling equipment (such as electric forklifts, tuggers, or reach trucks).
  • Low-Voltage DC Expertise: Proficient in troubleshooting low-voltage DC electrical systems.
  • Fabrication Skills: Competent in the safe operation of manual shop tools, including manual drills, lathes, band saws, and grinders, for rapid prototyping and rework. Competent in Wiring harness assembly and validation. Some knowledge of PCB rework and soldering is a plus.
  • Documentation Literacy: Ability to read, interpret, and work directly from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and CAD models.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills when faced with incomplete documentation or ambiguous requirements.
  • Professional communication and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach when balancing competing priorities from multiple engineering stakeholders.
  • This position is based entirely at Cyngn\'s headquarters in Mountain View, CA. Candidates must be able to perform physical labor typical of an R&D workshop environment, including lifting components up to 50 lbs and working in and around industrial vehicles.
  • Health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA and FSA (Health & Dependent Daycare), Employee Assistance Program, 1:1 Health Concierge)
  • Life, Short-term and long-term disability insurance (Cyngn funds 100% of premiums)
  • Company 401(k)
