Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead high-voltage substation and switchyard projects across the United States. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through commissioning, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality meet the highest industry standards.

This hybrid role starts with 90 days in-office to onboard with the team, followed by a flexible 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, while continuing to work with clients and pursue new business

Senior Project Engineering Manager – Substation (Hybrid)

I'm working with a leading employee-owned engineering consulting and EPC firm that is looking to hire a Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of complex substation projects across the U.S.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, managing large-scale utility infrastructure projects, and working directly with clients from project award through execution.

The position is full-time in the office for the first 90 days to support onboarding and integration with the team. Following this period, employees are eligible for a 9/80 flexible work schedule (manager approval required), providing every other Friday off.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering high-voltage substation and switchyard projects.
• Manage the full engineering lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Serve as the technical lead and engineering authority on complex transmission and distribution projects.

Ideal Background

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 11+ years of experience delivering utility substation projects.
• Previous experience leading engineering teams on EPC or engineering consulting projects.
• Strong knowledge of substation design, including:
• Physical layout and equipment selection
• Relay protection & control
• Civil and structural coordination
• Project execution from concept through commissioning
• Experience working with investor-owned utilities is highly desirable.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is strongly preferred.
