Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager, Communications, to lead the in-game text chat platform used by billions of messages daily across global users. You will own the roadmap and drive alignment with product, design, trust & Safety, and infrastructure to deliver a safe, expressive, and reliable messaging experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience including leadership roles.
• Experience shipping consumer-facing products at scale, esp. messaging or real-time systems.
• Strong product intuition balancing UX, tech complexity and speed.
• Design and operate large-scale distributed systems with low latency.
• Proven ability to attract, develop and retain engineers and build high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a team building the in-game text chat platform with high ownership.
• Own the technical vision and multi-quarter roadmap for real-time messaging at scale.
• Drive architecture evolution of messaging systems delivering billions of messages daily.
• Collaborate with product and design to treat chat as a product, translating goals into features.
• Work with Trust & Safety, Policy, and ML teams to ensure safe, civil messaging.
• Establish engineering practices for quality, observability, and on-call health.
• Communicate clearly across the organization to align teams on direction.
