Job summary

Rinker Design Associates, a DRMP company, powered by Trilon, seeks a Senior Engineering Manager for the Galax, VA region. The role leads Water/Wastewater and infrastructure projects with executive oversight, client engagement, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8–15 years of progressive Water/Wastewater, Site-Civil or Infrastructure experience with leadership and PM expertise.
• P.E. license active in Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity/comity.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of WaterCAD and KYPIPE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead regional presence, build a high-performing team, and provide executive-level oversight and technical direction on complex Water/Wastewater projects.
• Lead complex Water/Wastewater and infrastructure projects from planning through delivery.
• Act as trusted advisor to key public-sector or institutional clients and oversee long-term client relationships in Virginia and the surrounding region.
• Establish office culture, hiring and mentoring a core team, and align growth efforts with leadership.
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, plans, and deliverables while ensuring standards compliance.
• Oversee day-to-day branch management including staffing, budgeting, and profitability.

The Senior Engineering Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for technical excellence, strategic growth, and operational oversight within RDA’s engineering practice. What You'll Do:

• Make Your Mark: Spearhead RDA’s regional presence, build a high-performing team, and lead with autonomy. Provide executive-level oversight and technical direction on complex Water/Wastewater and infrastructure projects.
• Lead with Vision: Act as a trusted advisor to key public-sector or institutional clients and oversee impactful infrastructure projects. Maintain and expand long-term client relationships throughout Virginia and the surrounding region.
• Shape Culture: Foster a collaborative, innovative, and engaging office environment that attracts top-tier talent.
• Launch & Lead: Take charge of establishing the office culture, hiring and mentoring a core team while setting strategic goals. Collaborate with Rinker Design Associates and Trilon Group leadership on growth initiatives and integration efforts.
• Deliver Excellence: Manage complex Water/Wastewater and infrastructure projects from planning through delivery. Serve as Engineer of Record as appropriate and ensure adherence to applicable state, federal, and industry standards.
• Inspire & Develop: Mentor engineers and cultivate a high-performance, people-first culture
• Oversee Operations: Ensure smooth day-to-day branch management including staffing, budgeting, and profitability. Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, plans, specifications, and deliverables.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 8-15 years of progressive experience in Water/Wastewater, Site-Civil, or Infrastructure engineering with leadership and PM expertise
• P.E. license Active in Virginia, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity or comity.
• Knowledge of graphic designing is very essential utilizing the latest version of Autodesk/Civil 3D
• Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software is a plus: WaterCAD and KYPipe
• Skill in updating, maintaining, operating and evaluating all AutoCAD software and related equipment
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
