Job summary

Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking an Engineer VI to supervise a major engineering activity and lead a team in planning, design and research. The role requires applying engineering science principles and directing multi-disciplinary efforts to meet program goals.

Qualified candidates will have an engineering degree and at least 5 years of progressive engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities, with required credentials as applicable by Hawaii regulations.

Qualifications

• Engineering experience required at progressively responsible level.
• Supervisory or staff advisory experience preferred.
• Administrative experience not required but considered where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the professional and nonprofessional personnel of a major engineering activity.
• Develops procedures and standards for the organization and represents the organization on technical engineering matters.
• Directs large engineering sections or districts as a technical specialist in planning, development, design or research.
• Leads teams on difficult or critical engineering projects within the area of specialization.
• Acts as a staff specialist for overall control and coordination of major and complex engineering projects or programs.
• Performs other duties as required.
