Job summary

California Department of Conservation in Sacramento is seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist to supervise the Forest & Watershed Geology Program. The role combines leadership of FWG staff with expert review of geologic, slope stability, and erosion assessments to support forest and watershed projects.

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary by 3% in exchange for leave credits. Under The General Direction Of The Supervising Engineering Geologist, The Senior Engineering Geologist (Supervisor) Is Responsible For Performing Timber Harvesting Plan And Vegetation Management/Fuels Reduction Project Reviews And Other Forest And Watershed Related Geologic, Slope Stability, And Erosion Reviews, Geologic Hazard Assessment, Local And Regional Geologic And Geomorphic Mapping, Fluvial Geomorphic Analysis, And Supervising FWG Staff In The Sacramento Office. Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
