Job summary

Stantec in Portland, Oregon seeks a Senior Engineer / Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary water design teams and deliver sustainable, constructible solutions across diverse water infrastructure projects.

You will manage design schedules, budgets, and client expectations, guiding technical excellence from concept through construction while mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design Coordination: Lead and integrate inputs from civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering disciplines to deliver cohesive and constructible designs.
• Project Management: Develop and manage design schedules, budgets, and deliverables in alignment with overall project timelines and client expectations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve design issues and align expectations.
• Quality Assurance: Review design documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Risk Management: Identify design-related risks and implement mitigation strategies early in the project lifecycle.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of design decisions, revisions, and approvals; prepare regular progress reports for leadership and clients.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide design team members, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
