Job summary

Client in the energy sector is seeking a Senior Engineer – Underground Transmission Line to lead design, analysis, and project coordination for high‑voltage transmission systems in a rigorous environment.

On-site direct hire position requiring strong independent technical responsibility and experience across planning, operations, maintenance, or design within transmission environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with cable ratings and ampacity calculations.
• Thermal modeling of underground transmission systems (CYME/CYMCAP strongly preferred).
• High‑voltage systems experience (33kV and above).
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and make design decisions without oversight.

Responsibilities

• Establish specifications for contracts, review bids, and approve field design changes.
• Conceive, plan, and design solutions for new and refurbishment projects, including economic evaluations and feasibility studies.
• Perform engineering assignments per direction of other engineering groups.
• Serve as sponsor engineer and collaborate with design, estimating, construction, testing, maintenance, and supply teams for underground and overhead transmission line projects.
• Prepare project appropriations and prepare specifications and system designs for installation and repair of transmission lines and equipment.
• Prepare engineering sketches to modify systems and monitor construction work.
• Provide recommendations for design improvements related to transmission line systems.
• Review preliminary drawings and specifications with user coordinators.
• Train and oversee other engineers within the Section.
• Promote a positive work ethic aligned with corporate values and safety.

• Serve as a sponsor engineer and collaborate with design, estimating, construction, testing, maintenance, and supply organizations for underground and overhead transmission line projects.


• Prepare project appropriations and direct the preparation of specifications and system designs for the installation and repair of transmission line systems and equipment.


• Prepare engineering sketches required to modify systems and monitor construction performed by company personnel or external forces.


• Provide recommendations for design improvements related to transmission line systems.


• Review preliminary engineering drawings and specifications with user coordinators.


• Train and oversee other engineers within the Section.


• Promote a positive work ethic in alignment with corporate values, maintain high energy, and demonstrate commitment to environmental excellence and workplace safety.


• Provide technical expertise and project management assistance as required.
