About the Role

Mott MacDonald is the consultant of choice for a wide range of power clients. We offer world-leading engineering services across power delivery, including owner's engineering and detailed design. We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Substation Physical team. You will provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with an experienced team of engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the preparation, review, and management of technical documentation for substation projects, including conceptual and detailed design, specifications, and studies.
2. Produce thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and drawings.
3. Plan, organize, schedule, coordinate, and monitor work activities with other project team members.
4. Review design work completed by peers to ensure compliance with scope and QA/QC requirements.
5. Ensure design activities adhere to applicable codes, standards, policies, and procedures.
6. Mentor and guide developing engineers within the department.
7. Contribute to the development of internal engineering standards, tools, and processes.
8. Provide technical support in problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
9. Support business planning, development, and training initiatives.
10. Manage projects through design and construction phases, including RFI responses, equipment submittal reviews, and coordination meetings.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8+ years of substation design experience.
2. Registered Professional Engineer.
3. 7+ years' experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Primtech.
4. Substation design experience.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Self-motivated with a focus on quality and timeliness.
9. Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
