Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Morenci, AZ seeks an experienced Engineering professional to review and manage site projects, provide SME guidance, and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

You will contribute to budgeting, evaluate capital funding requests, and oversee vendor contracts. The role requires strong engineering knowledge, research abilities, and a track record of safe, effective project execution in a mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with five years of related experience.
• Master's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with three years of related experience.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering.
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to follow safety practices and recognize hazards.

Responsibilities

• Review, investigate, and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects.
• Manage projects and serve as SME on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion, or modifications.
• Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations.
• Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas.
• Develop and evaluate AFE’s for capital funding requests.
• May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
• May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams.
• Perform other duties as required.

Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

• Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations.
• Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas.
• Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests.
• May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
• May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering disciplineandfive (5) years of related experience in Engineering or a related field,OR
• Master's degree in an appropriate Engineering disciplineandthree (3) years of related experience in Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Skill in managing large/complex Engineering projects.
• Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$97,500-$138,000This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
