Job summary

  • Driver’s license with a good driving history.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary to be commensurate with experience.

The hiring range for this position is $103,395 - $129,244 per year.

OVERVIEW OF JOB/ DEPARTMENT

On the Aurora Water Project Delivery Services Team, the Senior Engineer is responsible for the procurement and management of consultants and contractors for the delivery of complex capital improvement projects. In addition to project delivery, they mentor project management staff, provide technical guidance, and identify opportunities to improve internal processes and project management standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Procure design consultants and contractors to deliver capital improvement projects
  • Manage and negotiate project scope, fee, and schedule for assigned projects
  • Communicate project status updates to stakeholders including budget and schedule impacts
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and engineering reports in conformance with City standards and City codes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Experience Certifications and Licenses:
  • Eight (8) years of experiencein progressively responsible project management including one year of leadership or managerial experience
  • PE (or equivalent) registration in theState of Colorado, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:

  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
