This role leads and executes engineering projects focused on developing, implementing, qualifying, and optimizing automated or semiautomated manufacturing processes and equipment. The position collaborates cross‑functionally with Global Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and NPD to deliver new capacity, enable new product introductions, drive cost and waste reduction, and support continuous improvement. The engineer applies strong technical expertise, analytical ability, and structured project management to ensure manufacturing systems meet performance, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role may also provide oversight to vendors, contribute to technology development, and support process reliability across multiple sites.

Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery, testing, qualification, and release of new or upgraded production equipment.
  • Manage equipment suppliers to meet User Requirements Specifications and design standards.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and communication updates.
  • Execute or support process validation activities (URS, FDS, FAT, SAT, OQ, PQ).
  • Drive development of automated system concepts, prototyping, and proof‑of‑principle testing.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement process and product improvements.
  • Lead or support new product introductions, including cost (COGS) inputs and manufacturability considerations.
  • Conduct safety and risk assessments and ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders and maintain strong communication throughout project execution.
  • Support troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and reliability improvements in partnership with operations and maintenance teams.
Essential Functions of the Role
  • Communicate effectively via email, phone, and virtual platforms.
  • Collaborate across departments to support organizational goals.
  • Participate in cross‑functional meetings and initiatives.
  • Maintain and analyze data using tools like Excel, SAP, or HRIS systems.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with company and legal standards.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Lead or support special projects aligned with departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying process improvements or automation opportunities.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve inquiries and issues with professionalism and discretion.
  • Provide guidance on policies, procedures, and benefits (where applicable).
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to ADA, data privacy, and ethics.
  • Maintain secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Support audits and regulatory reporting as needed.
  • Vision‑setting and alignment with business strategy.
  • High‑level decision‑making and resource allocation.
  • Oversight of compliance, risk, and organizational culture.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 15 pounds may be required.
Education & Work Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5‑8 years of related experience.
Education & Work Preferences
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or Project Management.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, PE/CPE, or OSHA 10/30.
  • Experience leading capital projects, multisite initiatives, or cross‑functional technology transfers.
  • Background in robotics, high‑speed automated systems, heat seal or web‑handling technologies, pneumatics, or vision systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean tools, industrial controls, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with process validation, equipment qualification, and structured project management.
