Samsung Austin Semiconductor in Austin, TX, is seeking a T1(Taylor) FS Design Engineering Lead to drive 3D design coordination, field verification, and RFI management across internal teams and external vendors. You will supervise a small team, ensure clashes are resolved, and align design hand-offs with construction milestones.
This role emphasizes on-site collaboration, strong communication, and delivery of design solutions within semiconductor fab environments.
Samsung is a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, founded on the belief that the pursuit of excellence creates a better world. At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, we are Innovating Today to Power the Devices of Tomorrow. Come innovate with us!
The T1(Taylor) FS Design Engineering Lead serves as the primary 3D design leader driving the connection between 5D modelers, T1 FS THU internal teams, and our external construction vendors. This role ensures that complex utility packages—including bulk gases, ultra-pure water, exhaust, and electrical systems—are spatially coordinated, clash-free, and released on time. The Design Engineering TR translates complex design intent into seamless fab installation. A primary focus of this role is maintaining design schedule output and maintaining engineering focus through RFI management and field support. Serving as the primary 3D design filter for incoming RFIs and 3D model clashes in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), the Design Engineering TR eliminates low-quality submission noise before it reaches the rest of the design team. By managing 3D model coordination, this position ensures trade contractors build strictly off approved models and adherence to Samsung design and construction standards. Beyond digital coordination, the Design Engineering Lead will spend dedicated time on the fab floor conducting field walks, verifying as-built conditions, and resolving spatial friction in real time alongside trade leads, construction managers, and international expat stakeholders. By aligning design hand-offs directly with construction to meet electrical and mechanical turn-on milestones, this individual serves as a key technical representative who keeps design moving, trade contractors accountable, removes obstacles, and protects overall design quality.
The current base salary range for this role is between $113,500 - $151,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
