Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a SrEngineer I, Electrical Projects to oversee electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development. The role emphasizes design of balance-of-plant systems and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The engineer will support activities across pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations, ensuring grid code compliance and robust equipment specification. Office-based with travel.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience in transmission design, substation design, and power system studies.

Responsibilities

  • Design balance-of-plant packages during development.
  • Support engineering during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations.
  • Ensure grid code compliance and interconnection requirements.
  • Specify and evaluate major electrical equipment.
  • Perform power system modeling and studies.
  • Coordinate with project engineers and 3rd party consultants.
  • Maintain health, safety, and environmental design standards.

The SrEngineer I, Electrical Projects, is responsible for overseeing the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development.

Role Responsibilities
  • Design of balance of plant packages during development
  • Engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations
  • Grid code compliance and interconnection requirements
  • Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment
  • Power system modeling and studies
  • Coordinating project engineering topics during construction
  • Management of 3rd party engineering consultants
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts during the project lifecycle
  • Ensure that the highest level of health, safety, and environmental standards are incorporated into designs and standards
  • Support development of electrical engineering standards
Job Requirements and Experiences
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering program or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience (post-undergraduate) in electrical engineering.
  • Specific areas of experience and competency include transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection and control
  • Experience in renewable generation (wind turbine, solar PV, and BESS storage) project design is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts

This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.

Pay range

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Illinois, and New York is $140,000 - $160,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
