Job summary

Beehive Industries is seeking a senior design engineer to advance jet propulsion components. You will work with engineers to develop 2D/3D definitions, perform reverse engineering from scan data, and ensure GD&T-compliant designs.

The role starts as an individual contributor with potential leadership as the company scales. Applicants should have a bachelor’s in engineering and 6+ years in gas turbine design, with strong NX/SolidWorks skills and experience in additive manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Design from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 6 years of experience in design of gas turbine components.
  • Strong expertise in design software tools (NX, SolidWorks, etc).
  • Experience with handling 3D scan data and creating parametric models based on re-interpreted scan data.
  • System level CAD model, parametric modeling, and PLM/PDM experience.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Security clearance eligibility and U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers to execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of turbomachinery components and assemblies using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements.
  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerancestackups, and electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, and assembly. Provide quality checks to eliminate interferences and ensure interface requirements are met.
  • Perform reverse engineering by using scan data and creating new part models using parametric modeling.
  • Ensure product designs follow standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Support design reviews and collaborate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, and system integration.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Participate in R&D of technologies and methodologies related to additive design and advise on improving product design through additive manufacturing.
  • Initially an individual contributor with potential future team leadership responsibilities.

What You'll Do...
  • Work with engineers to execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of turbomachinery components and assemblies using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements
  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerancestackups, and electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, and assembly. Provide quality checks toeliminateinterferences and to ensure interface requirements are met. Ensure drawings and models are managed consistent with industry standards for configuration management
  • Perform “reverse engineering” by using scan data and creating new part models using parametric modeling
  • Ensure product designs follow standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Support design reviews and collaborate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, and system integration
  • Providetimelycommunications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing
  • Role will initially be an individual contributor comfortable working in a dynamic self-directed start-up environment. As the organization grows, this role willbe responsible forscaling design capability to supportadditionalprojects which willlikely includesome future team leadership. Being able to grow leadership capabilities with the role will be critical

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, EngineeringTechnology, orIndustrial Design from an accredited university or college

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S.Citizenship is required, as only U.S.Citizens are eligible for a security clearance
