Job description

Software Engineer – Wireless Connectivity

Develop and maintain MAC and physical layer software modules for 802.11 WLAN chipsets and UWB chipsets. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver production‑ready firmware and perform unit testing and debugging.

Location

Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA headquarters.

What You’ll Do
  • Work with 802.11 WLAN chipsets, devices, and protocols, including other networking devices
  • Collaborate with wider teams to build and maintain production quality firmware for end‑to‑end feature deliverables
  • Design and develop modules in embedded firmware for Samsung’s wireless connectivity solutions
  • Implement, unit test, and fix issues for various MAC features of 802.11
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or computer science with 5+ years of industry experience, Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 0+ years in wireless communication technologies
  • Excellent coding skills in C for embedded firmware development
  • Ability to debug low‑level embedded software, custom code, and enhancements
  • WLAN standards knowledge; domain expertise in Wi‑Fi (IEEE 802.11) MAC protocols, WFA protocols, and coexistence with BT, UWB, and cellular
  • Knowledge of OFDM, OFDMA principles, beamforming, and RF concepts is an advantage
  • Understanding of QoS concepts and data‑path optimization algorithms
  • Understanding of Linux, kernel, and device‑driver development
  • Proficiency with debugging tools such as Wireshark, WFA test beds, and version control tools such as Git
  • Knowledge of Python is an advantage
  • Familiarity with BT, Ultra‑Wide Band, and 4G/5G is preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of MAC layer concepts and physical layer (e.g., OFDM, OFDMA) principles
  • Experience in developing firmware for wireless communication protocols (WLAN)
  • Fluency in using lab equipment such as network analyzers, WFA test beds, signal generators, and power meters
  • Familiarity with WLAN standards and Wi‑Fi MAC/PHY specifications
