Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a highly technical Senior Engineer to lead AI security, platform modernization, and developer productivity initiatives across Digital Technology. You will drive secure AI adoption, modernization, and rapid release capabilities to address evolving threats and risks.

The role requires hands-on leadership of complex features, end-to-end delivery, and collaboration across Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Development teams to establish enterprise-wide engineering

Job Description:

Seeking a highly technical, hands-on Senior Engineer with deep Systems Engineering expertise to lead AI security, platform modernization, and developer productivity initiatives across Digital Technology. The role will drive secure adoption of AI capabilities, establish the roadmap for AI vulnerability management (including Mythos remediation), accelerate engineering modernization, and enable rapid release capabilities required to address emerging security threats and platform risks. This individual will serve as a technical leader, architect, and builder, developing solutions that improve engineering efficiency, strengthen security posture, and accelerate software delivery. This job is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities of the job include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership based on conducting multiple software implementations, and applying both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Additionally, this job is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that the design and engineering approach for complex features are consistent with the larger portfolio solution


• Define the technology tool stack for the solution and evaluate and adapt new testing tool/framework/practices for team(s)


• Enables team(s)/applications with Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) capabilities and engages with other technical stakeholders pertaining to efficient functioning of CI-CD pipeline


• Guides and influences team(s) on design and best practices for high code performance –e.g. pairing, code reviews


• Provides end-to-end delivery of complex features, including automation, for either a single team or multiple teams, at the program level


• Conducts research, design prototyping and other exploration activities such as evaluating new toolsets and components for release management, CI/CD, and features


• Works with stakeholders to establish high-level solution needs and with architects for technical requirements


• Lead identification, triage, prioritization, and remediation of AI-related vulnerabilities.


• Build developer productivity solutions that accelerate secure software delivery.


• Drive platform modernization initiatives, including JDK upgrades, framework upgrades, and technical debt reduction.


• Enable rapid-release capabilities for critical vulnerability remediation and security response.


• Partner with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Development teams to establish enterprise-wide engineering standards.


• Develop automation that reduces remediation lead times and improves engineering efficiency.


• Champion secure AI adoption and establish best practices for AI-powered software development.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, and platform engineering experience.


• Strong hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems, application architecture, and enterprise platform design.


• Proven expertise in AI/LLM consumption patterns, AI platform integration, and secure AI application development.


• Deep understanding of AI security risks, vulnerability management, and remediation practices.


• Experience leading vulnerability remediation programs, including analysis, prioritization, and mitigation of AI-related security findings (e.g., Mythos scans).


• Experience developing remediation roadmaps and driving enterprise-wide security modernization initiatives.


• Strong knowledge of application security, secure coding practices, OWASP, authentication, authorization, encryption, and API security.


• Hands-on experience with Java ecosystem modernization, including JDK upgrades, dependency management, and framework modernization.


• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, DevSecOps, and release engineering capabilities.


• Strong cloud, containerization, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation experience.


• Ability to provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and drive adoption of engineering standards and best practices.


• Strong problem-solving, architecture, and stakeholder management skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience building AI-powered developer productivity tools and software engineering accelerators.


• Experience with GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, GenAI development frameworks, prompt engineering, and agentic AI architectures.


• Experience establishing rapid deployment models, including ad-hoc and 48-hour release capabilities for security remediation.


• Knowledge of AI governance, model risk management, compliance, and responsible AI practices.


• Experience with security scanning technologies, vulnerability assessment platforms, and automated remediation workflows.


• Experience building reusable engineering platforms, developer portals, self-service tooling, and platform engineering solutions.


• Familiarity with enterprise observability, operational excellence, and SRE practices.


• Experience leading large-scale technology modernization programs across multiple business lines.


• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing architecture decisions at an enterprise level.


• Financial services and regulated industry experience preferred.
