Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the Fleet Sustainment team. You will collect and analyze technical data, produce documentation and drawings, perform calculations, and guide junior staff while coordinating with shipyards, OEMs, and subcontractors on ship alterations and overhauls.

Role requires 8+ years of naval engineering experience, a Bachelor's degree, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of engineering experience, including at least five (5) years of specific naval engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or business-related field.
  • Advanced knowledge in specialized engineering functions with broad practical application.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance; must be a U.S. citizen eligible for such clearance.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including extended stays for overseas engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, and drawings, including flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas and preliminary analyses of data.
  • Use PC applications in analyses and development of documentation and reports; may conduct tests and record data.
  • Provide direction and guidance to lower-level non-exempt employees; often serve as lead worker on assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate with shipyards, OEMs, and subcontractors to support ship alteration, repair, and overhaul work packages.
  • Support configuration management activities documenting the current status of ships, systems, and equipment.

Summary

Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! The Fleet Sustainment team is currently looking for a Senior Engineer. This position will provide technical support to engineering teams by collecting and analyzing technical data, producing engineering documentation and drawings, and performing calculations and preliminary analyses to support engineering decisions. The role also assists with testing and data recording, guides junior staff, coordinates with shipyards, OEMs, and subcontractors on ship alteration and overhaul activities, and supports configuration management for ships, systems, and equipment.

*This role is contingent upon contract award.*

  • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, and drawings, including flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas and preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided, including quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
  • Use personal computer applications in performance of analyses and development of documentation and reports; may conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
  • Provide direction and guidance to lower-level non-exempt employees; often serve as lead worker on assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate with shipyards, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and other subcontractors to support execution of ship alteration, repair, and overhaul work packages.
  • Support configuration management activities documenting the current status of ships, systems, and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Eight (8) years of engineering experience, including at least five (5) years of specific naval engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or business-related field.
  • Advanced knowledge in specialized engineering functions, with a wide and comprehensive acquaintance with both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance; must be a U.S. citizen eligible for such clearance.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including extended stays in support of overseas customer engagements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and CAC card.
Preferred Requirements
  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS) experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or complex naval programs, including shipbuilding/overhaul environments.
  • Experience supporting international customer engagements involving foreign government information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling requirements.
  • A current or active DoD security clearance.
Physical Requirements

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
