Responsibilities

• Read drawings, specs and requirements to create accurate engineering plans.
• Lead hand-off meetings, redlines, changes and warranty work.
• Create and review detailed 2D/3D drawings and models.
• Mentor engineers and designers; raise technical standards.
• Review designs for accuracy, constructability and manufacturability.
• Design solutions for fabrication, assembly, installation considerations.
• Contribute to process improvements and engineering standards.

Senior Engineer, Millwork | Onsite-McKinney, TX | Salary Range: $120K Base

Sage Search Partners is looking for a Senior Engineer to join a custom millwork and manufacturing company in McKinney, Texas. You’ll take on complex custom millwork and cabinetry projects and turn architectural designs into accurate, buildable drawings that move smoothly through production and installation.

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in CAD, millwork, cabinetry or manufacturing engineering who knows how products get built on the shop floor and installed in the field. You should be a hands‑on problem solver who can own complex projects on your own, balance several priorities at once and work well with production, CNC and project management. Experience with Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AutoCAD, Rhino or similar software is a big plus. CNC programming experience is helpful but not required, and the company will consider industry experience in place of an engineering degree.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Production, CNC Programming and Project Management so projects move efficiently from engineering to the shop floor.
• Engineer complex custom millwork, cabinetry and specialty components from start to finish.

• Read architectural drawings, specifications and project requirements and turn them into accurate engineering plans.

• Review designs for accuracy, constructability and manufacturability before release.
• Design solutions that account for how each piece will be fabricated, assembled and installed.
• Contribute to process improvements and engineering standards that make the team stronger.

Client Requirements

• Background in engineering, CAD, millwork, cabinetry, manufacturing or a closely related field.
• Strong CAD skills and the ability to produce precise technical drawings.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and construction methods.
• Sharp attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
• Clear communicator who works well across teams.
• Preferred: experience with Microvellum, Rhino, AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision or similar platforms.
• Preferred: architectural millwork or custom cabinetry experience.
• Preferred: CNC programming or machining experience, including Router-CIM or similar software.
• Preferred: experience with ERP/MRP and engineering work-order systems.
• Engineering degree preferred. Equivalent industry experience is also considered, and experience level is flexible for the right technical skill set.
